Excursions

Importanne Resort provides its guests with a diverse selection of excursions, allowing you to get to know the beauty of southern Dalmatia and the neighbouring countries of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro. At the Resort reception desk, you can find all the information you need about organised excursions to the islands of Mljet and Korčula, the Elaphiti archipelago and neighbouring countries or you can create a special excursion based on your own preferences.

Importanne Resort recommends:

Mljet National Park: the island of Mljet is the longest island in the Dubrovnik archipelago, known for its rich history, archaeological and cultural discoveries and exceptional natural beauty. The settlement of Polače is the site of ruins of a Roman palace, and the western part of the island has been declared a national park with its Greater and Lesser saltwater lakes and Saint Mary's convent set on an island in the centre of the lake. A must-see among the natural beauties of the island is Odyssey's Cave which, at the right time of day, offers a stunning refraction of the turquoise colour of the sea.

Island of Lokrum: a ten-minute boat ride from the Old Town harbour brings you to Lokrum, an island protected by UNESCO as a natural reserve and a special reserve of forest vegetation. Though not far from the city, Lokrum is an exotic and mysterious place full of diverse flora and fauna that will delight you. Of particular interest are the eucalyptus trees, cacti and succulents and most of all the island's peacocks which display their luxuriant feathers to visitors. Lokrum was first mentioned in 1023 as the site where a Benedictine monastery was founded and legend has it that Richard the Lionheart found salvation on the island upon returning from the Crusades in Palestine. On the island, visitors can enjoy in bathing and suntanning, touring the natural beauty and taking a stroll to the peak of the island and Fort Royal, which offers a stunning view of Dubrovnik and its city walls.

Elaphiti (Deer) islands: this fascinating archipelago consists of eight islands and five islets, three of which are inhabited: Koločep (Kalamota), Lopud and Šipan. From the city harbour of Gruž you can make daily visits to these islands—the Illyrian structures and Greek and Roman toponyms bear witness to its ancient habitation. Each has a traditional heritage—visit the early Croatian church on Koločep, the Skočibuha-Stjepović summer villa in Suđurđ or St. Stephen's church in Šipanska Luka. Šipan Field and its grape vines and olive trees and the crystal clear sea bear the promise of unique culinary delights and the sand of Šunj beach on the island of Lopud offers the vacation of your dreams.

Trsteno Arboretum: the Arboretum at Trsteno is the only arboretum on the Adriatic coast and the oldest arboretum in the world, known for its historical gardens and Mediterranean and exotic flora. Stunning palm, eucalyptus, laurel trees and cacti, the Renaissance Gučetić-Gozze summer villa and the baroque fountain with Neptune and nymphs will delight every visitor.
